- High-level conferences tied specifically to the themes of COP28
- Public sessions at COP28
- “Multiversity” events engaging students across Education City in Doha
- A student trip to participate in COP28
- Outreach efforts to help educate the broader community
In addition to information on these events, you’ll find here a collection of student work and experience.
Objectives and Purpose
Everyone speaks about youth engagement, but to be more than merely token engagement—to actually empower the younger generation to repair the intergenerational injustices they will face throughout their lifetime—higher education is critical. Georgetown University Qatar seeks to offer an experiential learning opportunity for its students, engaging the public, diplomats, and other experts now. The purpose is to shape the current trajectory of climate action in the Gulf region while at the same time preparing student leaders who will soon be climate decision makers. This year’s engagement will serve as a pilot to test out and design a robust, ongoing multiversity initiative.
3-Part Experiential Engagement:
Students will substantively learn about climate change and engage at COP28 via
- A 2-day, pre-COP educative boot camp held at GU-Q
- Participation as observers at COP28, including participation at Qatar’s Pavillion
- A post-COP debrief and public share-out
